Supporting Breakthrough Research and Student Opportunities
As GTRI prepares to celebrate 75 years of solving tough problems, employees and customers from around the world have shared stories of people who were not afraid to push the limits of accepted science and persevere on difficult problems when others might have given up. Creativity, innovation and hard work are mentioned time and time again. GTRI is committed to capturing the success of the past, nurturing the next generation of talent and encouraging breakthrough ideas. That’s why we must ensure that brilliant minds have the intellectual freedom and financial backing to explore promising technologies, prove their viability, and change the world.

Support new research frontiers
Venture research funds provide early-stage internal seed money to test dual-use technology ideas and to spur innovation. This research can spur advancements that make the world a better place for everyone.
Project selection is highly competitive. Priority research initiatives include:
- Biotechnology and healthcare applications
- Energy
- Digital media and Internet protocol television
- Interactive education technology
- Strategic global challenges
Strategic global challenges will become research priorities based on donor interest and investment. Researchers immersed in serious issues of national defense welcome the opportunity to apply their expertise to improving lives.
GTRI interdisciplinary teams focus on the big picture. They have discovered that it is rarely a technological solution alone that solves a problem. They recognize that a deep understanding of the practical issues at hand, the limitations of the people on the ground, and the availability of resources make or break an innovation. GTRI solves complex problems.
