Jeffrey Sitterle

Dr. Jeffrey J. Sitterle is the director of GTRI’s Information & Communications Laboratory (ICL). Dr. Sitterle brings vast technical and leadership experiences to ICL and GTRI. He is a Principal Research Scientist and has served in multiple leadership positions throughout his career at GTRI, including the Interim ICL Lab Director, Chief Scientist of GTRI, Director of Biotechnology and Nanotechnology Research Initiative, Interim Director of the Health and Environmental Systems Lab (HESL), and Director of the Systems Development Lab (SDL). Dr. Sitterle also served as Chief Technology Officer at a commercial biotechnology venture.
Dr. Sitterle holds a Ph.D. in Applied Physics and Electrical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University, M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University, and a B.S. in Physics and Mathematics from Heidelberg College. His technical background is in the fundamental physics and phenomenology of high-performance sensors, electromagnetic propagation and scattering, biophysics, biomedical imaging, and mathematical algorithms for signals estimation. Dr. Sitterle’s current research is in terrestrial propagation algorithms, and distributed, adaptive communications and sensor systems.
