2020 Summer Intern, Varun Vudathu, Wins First Place at TYE Globals

Varun Vudathu was an intern in the 2020 Summer High School Internship Program, mentored by Dr. Erick Maxwell (ATAS). Varun and his TiE Atlanta's TYE team, Boxed Water Initiative (BWI), won first place at the TiE Youth Entrepreneurship Global Pitch Competition. The BWI pitch showcased boxed water as a promotional product that is more eco-friendly. The BWI team competed with teams from around the world. Congratulations to Varun and his team!

ENGAGES Student Jordan Jones Accepted into Georgia Tech

Congratulations to Jordan Jones! Jordan, a student at BEST Academy, is a participant in Project ENGAGES. He plans to attend Georgia Tech and major in Computer Science with a concentration in Software Development. Jordan started Project ENGAGES in summer of 2018 and worked with piezoelectric materials and produced tiles for the Kennedy Space Center. Currently, he is working on the GATES project, researching the applications of graphene, including using graphene for thermal applications for cooling materials.  

Congratulations to Dr. Erick Maxwell on his recognition by IEEE for his outstanding STEM outreach support. 

This past year Dr. Maxwell was awarded winner of IEEE’s Atlanta Section Outstanding Educator Award for outstanding STEM program development and sustained mentorship of K-12 and post-secondary students.

The 2019 TAG-Ed Horizon Awards honored student interns and their dedicated mentors.
