The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) has just completed a major building renovation of the Warner Robins Field Office. The building was re-dedicated on December 9, 2008 with a ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by the Warner Robins Area Chamber of Commerce.

The renovation adds office and laboratory space, as well as classroom and conference rooms, which will allow GTRI to better serve the community with the Georgia Tech Distance Learning programs. With the new space GTRI will also be able to add engineering staff and will be better prepared to support Robins AFB and all of the Warner Robins area.

In 1979, GTRI established a permanent Warner Robins engineering presence with one engineer. The Warner Robins Field Office has grown to include 10 employees. The local GTRI employees support a large variety of projects on Robins AFB, with the majority of their work supporting the 542nd Combat Sustainment Group electronic warfare sustainment mission.

"As the applied research arm of Georgia Tech, GTRI supports mission critical systems managed by the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center," said Georgia Tech Vice President and GTRI Director, Dr. Stephen Cross. "With a dedicated presence for almost 30 years, the new facility will allow GTRI to provide more onsite support in the Warner Robins area including the delivery of continuing education courses from Georgia Tech."

Much of GTRI's work with the U.S. federal government supports defense and security. GTRI has been meeting mission-critical military needs since the 1950's. From electronic defense technologies to vehicle survivability to high-tech networking, GTRI's defense technology expertise is recognized worldwide. Its men and women are proud to serve the nation by developing effective, creative solutions that support national defense and homeland security.
