Raj Vuchatu serves as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at GTRI, where he provides vision and leadership for Information Technology (IT) strategy and implementation. He oversees all aspects of IT, including enterprise systems, secure and special secure computing and information systems infrastructure. Vuchatu leads and executes a shared IT strategy focused on achieving GTRI’s research goals.
Vuchatu has over 25 years of experience in leading high performing teams, delivering IT solutions to meet organizational goals and objectives. Prior to serving as CIO, Vuchatu served as the Director of Enterprise Systems at GTRI and IT for Research Support at Georgia Tech. In these roles, he spearheaded digital transformation efforts across the research enterprise.
Vuchatu’s leadership has been recognized with several honors, including the OnCon ICON Top 10 Technology Professional Award (2024), the Georgia Tech Administrative Excellence Award (2013), and GTRI’s Sustained Excellence in Service Award in 2010.
Vuchatu is a die-hard cricket and baseball fan. He regularly volunteers at many charitable organizations and received the Volunteer of the Year award by VIBHA in 2019.
Vuchatu earned his M.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from Auburn University and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from BITS, Pilani, India.
